Just in time for the Winter, Unruly founded by Antonia Opiah; a digital beauty platform dedicated to Black hair helping women, introduces Yeluchi by Unruly — a new at home service that brings professional hairstyling to the homes of women across New York City. No longer will you have to struggle to find a natural hair salon in NYC.
Currently in beta, Yeluchi caters primarily to women of color, however the company’s licensed hairstylists are experienced in working with all hair textures. A key goal of the service is to offer an alternative to the traditional salon experience by making the hairstyling process more comfortable, given that many hairstyles for Black women can take hours to do.
Services offered include protective styles such as braids, cornrows and weave installations with price points ranging from $50 to $225. Customers can book an appointment by visiting the Yeluchi website to select a style, date and time, then enjoy their requested service in the luxury of their own home.
Hairstylists handpicked to work at Yeluchi are licensed and highly experienced in their field. The company has developed an internal process that ensures each stylist and consistently delivers quality service to all clients, and helps them achieve their respective hair goals while placing an importance on comfort, ease and hair health.
When it came to choosing a name for our at home hairstyling service, the natural choice was a play on my Nigerian name, Chiyelu, which means ‘God’s gift’.
CoFounders and sisters, Antonia and Abigail Opiah created Yeluchi as an extension of their popular online brand, Unruly.com. Says, Antonia, “Yeluchi is not only a by product of unruly, but also of our personal hair journeys and mission to reshape then way the world views Black hair.
