So I’m super excited to review DevaCurl’s Wash Day Wonder Pre Cleanse Slip Detangler
Before getting into the review I should point out that I’ve always used a conditioner to detangler my type 4 kinky hair BEFORE I wash, so I was keen to see how this detangler would hold up.
My hair is very tightly coiled, prone to knots and needs a product with lots of slip in order to be effective.
I liberally applied the product to my hair in small sections after lightly spritzing each section with water. The instructions recommend you should soak your curls before applying the product but I found that this wasn’t necessary. I didn’t use this in the shower as I wash my hair over the sink. It worked just as well with a decent amount of moisture.
I used my fingers to detangle my hair, then ran my wide tooth comb through the detangled sections. I always use my fingers first as my fingers can feel knots and tangles whereas a comb will just rip right through my kinks.
HERE’S A PRO TIP
If you have thicker hair you will definitely want to separate your hair into small sections before detangling. Though the product has lots and lots of slip (which I absolutely loved0, no product has that much slip so definitely use this product in sections.
After washing the product out with a sulphate-free shampoo, I added my deep conditioner of choice and did a deep treatment. My hair felt like silk… literally. Wash Day Wonder doesn’t contain any sulfates, parabens, or silicones.
By the way, the smell is AMAZING… and it lasts for a while. None of the products I followed up with had a fragrance so I know the scent came directly from this Wash Day Wonder detangler. I loved catching the scent of my hair for up to two days after using it. I couldn’t get enough of the floral smell.
WOULD I USE THIS PRODUCT AGAIN?
Absolutely! I give it an 8 out of 10. It lost 2 points because I needed to use a lot to really take advantage of the slip (but that might be because I’m heavy-handed). It did live up to its promise and detangled my kinks and curls in record time. I think it would work even better for looser curls.
