I Go By Frankie

Frédérique Tietcheu, a fashion blogger and former stylist for ASOS.com, is a London based Parisian with an amazing sense of style. Encourage by her fiancé and friends, Freddie (as she’s know in the UK) started her blog to capture her adventures in fashion. Then started the confusion around her name. People would confuse “Freddie” for “Frankie” and thus her alter ego was born.

1. What inspired you to start your fabulous blog “I Go By Frankie”?

My friends and most of all my boyfriend! I was working in fashion specifically in digital marketing. I wanted to change careers and get closer to the finished product rather than just marketing it so my boyfriend pushed me to start the blog!

2. How would you describe your style in 5 words?

Quirky, bright, bold, weird and unflattering!

3. What are your Winter fashion essentials this year?

I can’t live without jeans. “Mom” jeans are my favorites! I’m currently obsessed with the 80s throwback that’s come back in style. I also love anything fluffy like fur coats. Add trainers (uK word for sneakers ;) and jeans and i’m good to go. Oh and shirts and suits, obviously… ha ha!

4. What three hair products could you not live without?

Coconut oil and castor oil.

5. Are there many naturals in France compared to London?

Hmmm, I wouldn’t know to be honest! I left Paris almost 4 years ago, and the natural movement is growing so fast that I’m not sure anymore. But London being much bigger, I’d assume there’s more naturals here.

6. Who’s behind the camera taking all those wonderful photos of you?

Tom – my amazing fiancé!

8. For many naturals it’s a journey to fully understand their hair. It’s a process of trail and error. What was your “Curls Understood™” moment? (The moment when you were like, “I’ve got this!”)

I don’t think I’ve had that moment yet. But I’m definitely more patient. I use hair extensions because I love a big bushy afro and because I find the maintenance easier. My hair is just as long but not as big yet, but I’m done being frustrated with it now. I just love it the way it is and my curls are too cute for words so that will do for now :)
