I received the Naturally Smitten Moisturizing Hair Butter in the February Curls Understood Box and it is an absolute game changer. Tasha Branham, the founder of Naturally Smitten, created this product line to specifically address the concerns of type 4 natural hair. All I can say is— mission accomplished. I could not be more excited to share my experience about this amazing product.
What I really love about this product aside from the cute packaging and the bubblegum smell, is the impressive ingredients list. The first five ingredients include shea butter, coconut oil, castor seed oil, sunflower seed oil, sweet almond oil, and the list continues with more natural butters and oils that are very beneficial for afro textured hair.
This is not one of those products with a lot of filler ingredients like extraneous extracts to make the product seem more holistic. This moisturizing hair butter is the real deal and the way my hair looks ands feels after using this product is proof of that. It is also very apparent from the ingredients list that this product is best suited for type 4 hair.
The nature of type 4 hair being very springy and tightly coiled makes it also very fragile and prone to breakage. This product is the perfect remedy for those issues since it’s mostly composed of heavy butters and oils that aid in controlling shrinkage as well as conditioning and moisturizing the hair.
I decided to use the Naturally Smitten hair butter to style my hair in a twist-out. I first used the True By Made Beautiful Leave in Conditioner ( also in the February Curls Understood Box) to moisturize and lightly detangle, and then I added the Naturally Smitten hair butter on top as the styler.
After applying the product my hair was not only clumped together but elongated as well. This product does an excellent job at combating shrinkage. After finishing my twist-out, I let my hair air-dry overnight. The next day, after taking down the twist, my hair was the softest it has ever felt.
I was completely blown away. The next time I styled my hair I decided to keep everything in my regimen the same to see if I would get the same results. After using the product for a second time my twist-out came out just as good. My hair was soft, shiny, and defined.
I would recommend this product to anyone with textured hair, but I would strongly recommend the Naturally Smitten Moisturizing Hair Butter to naturals that fall more in the 4 category and who may also be struggling to find a product to both nourish your hair and help you achieve amazing styles.
