4 Must-Try Clarifying Shampoos For Curly Hair

clarifying shampoo for natural hair

Do you know the power of clarifying? Clarifying allows you to gently remove product and buildup from your hair and scalp. Without clarifying, your scalp cannot receive moisture and protein can’t effectively penetrate into your strands.

How often should you clarify? Well it’s a matter of preference. It could be weekly, monthly, it all depends on how often you apply product and how much buildup forms on your scalp. Keep in mind that clarifying goes hand-in-hand with deep conditioners and protein treatments. Neither can penetrate a scalp clogged with buildup.

Let’s get down to business, here are my favorite clarifying shampoos. (And yes, they are in order!)

Be Kekoa Be Clair Shampoo

This sulfate-free shampoo deeply penetrates the hair to remove build up, without stripping natural oils or hair color. Ingredients such as burdock root and horsetail condition while cleansing. The shampoo comes in 8 fl oz and 32 fl oz and is a staple in my hair care regimen.

Carol’s Daughter Rosemary Mint Tree Oil Clarifying Shampoo

This is one of the first clarifying shampoos I ever used. It contains mint and rosemary, which tingles the scalp while cleansing the hair. It wakes up the follicles and the scalp to promote healthy hair growth and deeply removes buildup.

Lisa’s Elixir Clarifying Shampoo

Another staple product by Carol’s Daughter is this clarifying shampoo gem. Product ingredients include eucalyptus, sage, and lemon oils which nourish the scalp while cleansing the hair. This shampoo is essential for people who suffer from hair thinness, tightness of the scalp, or dryness.

Giovanni Golden Wheat Deep Cleanse Shampoo

Ask anyone who has been natural for more than 5 years and I guarantee they have used this product. Like most clarifying shampoos it promises to remove excess oils from the hair safely without the use of sulfates, encouraging volume and shine. It can be purchased at Whole Foods or a natural health food store.

These are my personal favs, but it really doesn’t matter which brand you use— just make sure you work clarifying into your regimen. Too much buildup can hinder your hair growth and your hair health!

GKhair pH+ clarifying shampoo makes the best in my opinion. It opens the hair cuticles removing an excess styling products, dirt, residue, product build up and other impurities. The best for scalp cleansing. Just love it. :) <3
