The High Bun

Though the countdown to the end of Summer has began there’s still plenty of hot and humid days ahead of us. That also means plenty of opportunities for frizzy and poofy day-old hair. So for those times when your twist out doesn’t quite turn out right or you’d rather avoid a frizz ball on your head as the heat of the day rises, consider the high bun on natural hair. It’s a quick and easy style that works on any hair texture and density – though shorter haired ladies my need the help of some extensions. All you need is H2O, bobby pins, a hair tie and some good ol’ gel – the toothbrush for your edges is optional!

When Fall and Winter arrive this is also a fantastic protective style as your ends will be tucked safaly within the bun and aware from the weather’s harsh elements. You can vary the style by choosing how loose or tight you want the bun to be. Even try pushing the bun to the side to add a twist to the look.

The five wonderful ladies below share the techniques that work for them. We highly recommend you follow each of their channels if you’re not already. They all have a wealth of great information and advice on being natural.

Also be sure to check out the kid’s edition of this hairstyle. Little Taylor gives a very entertaining and informative introduction!
