The Frohawk

The frohawk on natural hair is a quick and dirty hairstyle that you can throw up at the end of the week when your twist out starts to get a little old and the curls less defined. Though this may not be the style to wear to the office, you can certainly rock this on a date, to a barbecue, cocktail party or even for a chilled out night at your girl’s house.

Curls-Understood-frohawk-backThis style is great for all hair textures: coily, curly, kinky and wavy. Straight naturals with extensions. Even transitioners can get in on the action as demonstrated below in TwinGoddesses tutorial.

This is also a great style for all lengths so you can adapt this style as your hair grows. Curls aren’t necessary to achieve this look, but you can use a twist out, bantu knot out and/or braid out to give this look some umph!

Switch this look up by either using gel to sleek the sides down, cornrowing or flat twisting the sides, or making the actually frohawk asymmetrical on your head as opposed to the typical down the middle style. If you have shorter hair have your barber cut this style for you. You don’t have to shave the sides down completely. As long as the sides are shorter then the middle, this cut will work.

This is a fun hairstyle so finish the look with a lipstick color you’ve never tried before or an outfit that makes you feel edgy. Tell us where and how you’ve rocked this style in the comments section And if you’d like more inspiration visit our Pinterest board dedicate to pinned up hairstyles!
