As the weather gets colder it can be extremely harsh for your hair and the last thing any natural wants is brittle strands. There is one thing you should be doing religiously to keep your hair healthy, moisturized and to retain as much length as possible… Conditioning. Once they released the Shea Moisture Black Jamaican Castor Oil line back in the summer I already knew it was going to amazing but I had no idea it would be this great. But what makes this extra special is that the line, specifically the Shea Moisture Strengthen, Grow & Restore Masque is only offered at CVS stores… Well let’s just get into it!
The product comes in a 12 oz/340 g jar, which is about the same size as all their deep conditioners/masques for about 10-12$. It contains Jamaican Black Castor Oil, Organic Shea Butter, Peppermint and more. To be completely honest once I opened the jar I was not turned on. The container was filled with a slimy-like mustard colored products and and the smell was not the best but I dove right in. After sectioning my hair into three parts. I applied the masque from root to tip focusing on my ends more than anything. Being that the product was slimy it was extremely easy to apply, and made me feel like a kid again. Let’s just say the slip is awesomesauseee!

After applying, I piled my hair into a bun on the top of my head, covered it with a shower cap followed by a towel just to give it some natural heat and waited. Usually I would condition my hair over night but this time I just let it sit for about 4-5 hours. Finally after the waiting game was done I rinsed my hair in cold water and my curls where literally in heaven. I air dried my hair and it felt soft, curls coiled and bouncy. It definitely did the job. Overall I give it a 8 out of 10. I’d say a nine but it will take time to notice if it makes my hair grow stronger.
Some random facts about Shea Moisture products are that they are sulfate, paraben, phthalates, paraffin,and gluten free. They also contain no mineral oils, synthetic fragrances or colors, no dea, and best of all they are not tested on animals.
