Amazing For Refreshing Set Styles

The lovely Heidi of Q Redew reached out to us and was kind enough to send over their Q-Redew steamer to review. I was super excited to try it as I’d been following the company for several months and loved the idea of having a handheld steamer for my hair (and face – but we’ll get to that in a minute!)

The Q-Redew was designed to conveniently provide steam to hydrate, deep condition, detangle, boost volume and stretch curls. The Q-Redew warms and softens the hair with steam, the hair can then be safely manipulated into a new shape or style without rewetting the hair. As you you all know, wetting our curls completely when they’re in a set hairstyle, like a twist/braid out, wash ‘n’ go and even afro, can ruin the style. The Q-Redew provides the needed moisture while leaving the hair dry to the touch.

I filled the Q-Redew with distilled water as instructed and waited for it to warm up (takes less than 2 minutes by the way). I then pressed the button to activate the steam release.

I kept the Q-Redew/steam about an inch from my hair (any closer and the steam may get too hot for your head) and used my free hand to aid the Q-Redew refresh my twist out. The prongs on the Q-Redew made it easy for me to work through my hair with minimal manipulation. The results were AMAZING. No comb, refresh scary or even my hands have been able to bring my style back to life! It even worked on day 3 but by day 4 my twist out was to far gone for anything to save it.

I then used the Q-Redew when deep conditioning my hair. I added my new favorite deep treatment the Shea Moisture 10-in-1 Renewal System Hair Masque to my hair then used the Q-Redew to steam my hair from root-to-tip. I worked it through my hair for about 15 minutes then used a regular hooded dryer to finish the deep condition. I even used the Q-Redew during the week when applying my Kinky Curly Knot Today Leave-In Conditioner. My hair was soft to the touch and felt hydrated. I plan on continuing this technique in order to determine if it works but so far, so good.

Lastly, I’ve been using the Q-Redew to steam my face whenever I do my clay face mask every 2 weeks. I LOVE the results. I have tiny, tiny bumps all over my face that you can only really see when your up close but they bother me to know end. Since using the steam and the clay mask (from AVON but no longer available – i bought 5 a year ago) together my pores have opened up and the tiny bumps have virtually disappeared. I follow up with a super light facial moisturizer from Lush Cosmetics (Enzymion).

I give this product a 10 out of 10 and would recommend it to all curl textures. The Q-Redew is versatile and very practical – I plan to travel with it since it’s so lightweight. For $70 I think this product is well worth the investment.
