I’ve been on the search for the right styling gel for a wash-n-go, braid-outs and twist-outs for a while. I’ve used many that work well but I knew I could find something better. So when I was asked to review Ossat Naturals Curl-Wave-Twist Shaping Gelly, I was super excited to give it a trial run. The product claims to define and never leave the hair feeling crispy or crunchy – every naturals’ dream!
What I like about Ossat Natural’s line in general is that they allow you to be flexible when styling your hair. One product can be used multiple ways. The line contains a 5-in-1 natural moisture blend of:
• Olive Oil to add moisture
• Shea Butter to condition the hair
• Sunflower Oil to add shine
• Argan Oil to de-frizz
• Tea Tree to aid in repairing the hair
So I tried the Curl-Wave-Twist Shaping Gelly on a few of my staple styles:
BRAIDOUT
After washing my hair a followed the directions and applied a small amount on each section that I was planning to braid. It was smooth going onto the hair meaning I didn’t have to work the product into my hair for to long. I hate it when products just sit on my hair until I really rub them in. This wasn’t the case.
I was very cautious not applying too much product. I let my hair air dry and preceded to remove the braids the next morning. When unbraiding I realized my hair was still WET! After the 2nd day, my hair was completely dry and the results were fabulous. But by the 3rd day my hair just fell flat so I was very disappointed when I had to restyle my hair.
WASH ‘N’ GO
After feeling let down about my braid out, I wanted to give this product one more try. I decided to try it on my signature wash-n-go to see how well this product could define my curls. I applied yet again small amounts to small sections from root to tip, making sure every strand was coated.
Once my hair fully dried the results were fabulous. My hair didn’t feel crispy but did look stiff. My day 2 hair looked okay and by day 3, I needed to do my hair yet again.
OVERALL
I give this product a 5 out of 10 because the results are great but I had to redo my hair again sooner than with other styling products I use. I personally do not see myself using this product again. Maybe it will be great for those who have a looser texture than my 3c/4a hair.
