Fall weddings can be so beautiful… and cool! Your guests may thank you for not subjecting them to 80F plus heat during the ceremony! Your hair will definitely sustain its style for longer without the interference of humidity. We’ve already looked at natural wedding hairstyles for shorter hair so now let’s see what hairstyles medium to long haired naturals can achieve.
CURLING WAND WAVES
After deep conditioning, part the hair into 4 sections. Blow dry each section to smooth out the hair (make sure to apply a heat protectant before blow drying). Working in sections, curl 1-2 inch sections with a curling wand. Curl each section in the opposite direction to create more volume and a more interesting look. Style with your accessory of choice. Products used include Cantu Shea Butter’s Repair Cream as leave in; Shea Moisture’s raw Deep Treatment Masque (to be done before heat styling) and IC Fantasy’s Heat protectant.
AFRO WITH A SIDE PART
This style does not require any heat. This look is really just a fun take on a wash and go. Simply do your wash and go as you normally would (you can also of a twist out). My personal routine consists of co-washing my hair with Tresseme Naturals Conditioner, massaging my scalp with coconut oil and then applying Shea Moisture’s Coconut and Hibiscus Smoothie before styling. Create volume with a hair pick. Once completed, take a section of your hair and create a side part (right or left based on your personal preference). Twist and bobby pin at the crown of your head.
BOHEMIAN QUEEN
This final look I think is my favorite because it’s both elegant and regal. This is another interpretation of the wash and go. I don’t pick the hair as much. Instead i part the hair down the middle and with a headband tuck the upper half of my hair into the headband as shown above.
