I know for a lot of natural’s wash day can become a seemingly never ending process. Especially if you have long and or thick curls. For my hair I’ve found that implementing 3 steps into my regime has saved me a lot of time. Try these three steps and see if you’re able to get a little time back on your weekend.
Wash Your Hair In Twists/Braids
Wear your hair in more stretched styles as opposed to wash and goes. Unstretched styles tend to cause hair strands to tangle around one another making detangling a very scary process.
Detangle Before Adding Shampoo
Detangle Your hair before adding shampoo. Even moisturizing shampoos can be extremely drying. Dry hair is prone to tangles which is why detangling your hair prior to washing will assist with any extra kinks.
Wash In Sections
Washing your hair in sections is a great way to keep hair detangled as well as help with the feeling of being overwhelmed that many naturals with dense thick hair often experience. I recommend using 4 or more sections and to use clips to keep the sections separated. A great tip is to place the hair in four french braids for even more control.
Use A Great Styler
Curls Understood recommends Curl Keeper’s Original Total Control for Frizzy Hair. This non-silicone product reactivates with water allowing for several days of great styling. With Summer around the corner, it’s also 100% effective in humidity. Lastly, there’s no product build up and it rinses out clean!
