Perfect for Protective Styles!

On my quest to find my next protective style, it dawned on me that I haven’t had single extensions (braids, twist etc.) as an adult. So this is my very first attempt with box braids and so far I’m enjoying them and I’ve gotten a lot of complements. I can’t lie, I was a little skeptical at first with the thought of getting box braids. It seemed like they would be high maintenance and a whole new transition for me to get used to. Mainly because it has been such a long time since I recall ever having single style braids in my hair.

One of the biggest misconceptions is the thought that “I have braids now, so I don’t have to touch my hair”. In actuality it’s the complete opposite when having your hair braided or extensions put in. If your braids are neglected or aren’t properly managed they will break your hair off. So I was so excited when I received Girl + Hair product line. What a great perk for being an Ambassador!

Girl + Hair is the first line of products to target the hair underneath hair extensions and other protective styles. A win, win! This product is designed for braided hair, hair underneath sew-ins, wigs, etc.

It is a three part system, which works together to achieve healthy and thick hair. I used the Girl + Hair line twice before doing this review and was extremely impressed with how simple and easy washing & conditioning my braids were.

SOME KEY POINTS:

• The products are very easy to use, which shortens the wash/dry process
• The products have an amazing smell, which eliminates any odor
• All products have a low viscosity – it’s not sticky and is light to the touch
• There are no harsh chemicals, and includes botanical oils

MY STEPS:

First I went through each section of my hair and sprayed my scalp/braids down with fresh water.

Then I took the Moisturizing Sulfate-free Cleanser and traced the tip of the applicator through my parts. I covered one section of my roots at a time. The scalp and roots of my braids needed the most attention from a little product build up. I took my fingers and rub them between each part in my head. I didn’t include my nails because I wanted to prevent fuzz. The cleanser gave a really soothing tingle feel, just enough to reinsure me it was working. I loved the smell and the fact that the cleanser didn’t leave my hair feeling dry like other cleansing shampoos. (Keep a towel nearby to damp dry the extensions).

After I thoroughly washed out the Moisturizing cleanser, I then applied the Nourishing Leave-in Conditioner. I repeated the same process of tracing the tip of the applicator throughout my scalp. I squeezed a quarter size in my hand and ran my fingers down my braids.

Lastly, I applied the Protective Restoring Balm on my scalp, roots and braids. I really like that the balm is not a sticky serum. Its smooth, light and gives my hair just enough shine.

I look forward to seeing Girls + Hair product line on shelves! I know once I sharing my experience with this Under Hair Care line; my Mom, sisters and girlfriends will be trying to get their hands on it!!
