Citrus Smell is Divine

Yes, yes yes! Desert Essence Jojoba Shampoo Strengthening with Keratin & Nopal Cactus and Desert Essence Jojoba Conditioner Strengthening with Keratin & Nopal Cactus are winners! You probably know of Desert Essence when thinking of jojoba oil since that’s what they’re well known for. But OMG, this shampoo/conditioner is bomb. And it smells so good. A very light tangerine citrus smell. Just lovely I tell you, I get compliments all the time with how good my hair smells, but that’s besides the point.

These two products are a win for the 3c/4b fine strands chick! I’ve been looking forever and I mean forever for a cheap all natural shampoo and conditioner. And I stumbled upon these walking through my local natural health store. It’s funny because now that I’m in love, I have to have the store order it because they don’t carry it often.

It’s easy enough just to go online and order it at www.desertessence.com but I just like picking it up from the store. They both are under $10 and they work well.

Desert Essence Jojoba Shampoo

I don’t shampoo often. I used to use was causing excessive shedding. I figured it was the product I was using (Trader Joe’s tea tree tingle conditioner) so I started looking for something else. When I first started using these products I began shampooing my hair weekly. My hair didn’t feel dry and stripped like other shampoos normally made my hair feel.

I’ve been using this product for 5 months now and I’m very satisfied. These products could have stopped me from being a product junkie… but I just enjoy trying out new products too much!

Desert Essence Jojoba Conditioner

As for the wonderful, fabulous and affordable Desert Essence Strengthening Jojoba Conditioner, as I said earlier, the”Trader Joe’s tea tree tingle was making me shed more than I’d like so I had to find something else else quick. I’m mad because I bought two Trader Joe’s bottles and threw away the receipt, but they were cheap so whatever.

Anyways, first use of the dessert essence it detangled wayy easier than trader Joe’s. And it’s so funny to me because while the conditioner was in my hair& I was detangling/rinsing it out. In my head I was like, “this conditioner is making my hair feel really strong!” Forgetting that it was a ‘strengthening’ conditioner lol. It did what it said it would for sure!

Also from using this conditioner & Jane Carter Nutrient Replenishing Conditioner, I’m learning that my hair is a fan of this ingredient called Behentrimonium Chloride which I learned is the cheap cousin to Behentrimonium Methylsulfate and neither are a sulfate. It’s a surfectant/cleansing, anti-static and conditioning agent that softens the hair. (I’m not that smart, I learned it from another blog lol). I think my hair likes hydrolyzed ingredients as well because that’s in this & Jane Carter’s conditioner as well.

You may have noticed that I keep mentioning Jane Carter Nutrient Replenishing Conditioner. If you have tried it and liked it, the Desert Essence Jojoba Conditiner is a strong replacement if you’re balling on a budget like myself.

This is definitely going to stay a staple product because it’s so affordable and it’s natural. Win win! I would definitely recommend it to my natural chicks who have finer hair than they would like. I’m not claiming it has made my hair ‘look’ thicker, but it definitely feels stronger. So go try it out and tell us what you think.

I would give the shampoo a 10 and the conditioner a 7 only because the conditioner doesn’t have extreme slip like silicone conditioners do and you have to be generous with the amount you use. I want to say I got 10-12 uses out of one conditiner bottle.
