About 4 or 5 years ago, I made a bold decision to chop my hair off and start all over, this time as a natural haired woman. I had no idea what I was doing and was starting a whole new journey. At the same time, I was trying to figure out how to vamp and re-invent my blog (fun fact: it wasn’t always called A Bundle of Curls).
I decided to post about the major hair changes on my blog and that article alone became one of my most viewed pieces I had ever written at the time.
It was at that moment that I realized a two things:
1. I loved my natural hair because it challenged me to better myself and to take care of me in a whole new way.
2. Maybe this was the new direction my blog needed.
I had no idea how I would spin this blog to center around my style and my natural hair, but that’s when it dawned on me that my natural hair WAS my style. I was my natural hair and it has helped govern a number of looks pieced together by me.
I love being a natural hair blogger because I can address issues, topics and situations that we go through and even struggle with while being natural.
From there, I have made many changes (including to the name and website where my content is located) but none have ever included leaving out my natural hair. I love being a natural hair blogger because I can address issues, topics and situations that we go through and even struggle with while being natural.
I can also showcase my best self as a natural hair blogger because it’s all me. No matter what style I showcase my hair, it is all me. And I love showing people that part of me and my style.
It hasn’t always been easy trying to be a fashion and natural hair blogger, but I’ve found that my natural hair and my fashion sense have ultimately gone hand in hand. And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Being a natural hair blogger has truly been a beautiful journey and I encourage anyone who is looking to start blogging their journey…do it!
