5 Ways to Wear Leggings this Fall

Leggings. They’re here to stay. And while many self-declared fashionistas deplore and denounce them, we at Curls Understood think they’re a God-send. They’re the unappreciated cousin of jeans. Dangerously straddling the line between comfort and chic, no one can deny how perfect leggings look when done right.

Dress them up or down. Wear them short or long. Leggings have graduated from plain black cotton to bright embellished textures. Here we run down the 5 hottest trends for Fall…

1.

PLEATHER. Every good girl gone bad should have a pair of pleather (fake leather) leggings in their wardrobe. They give any outfit a little edge without coming across like you’re trying too hard to be bad ass! Perfect with pumps, boots, or sneakers, pleather leggings are a must for cooler temperatures.

2.

CROPPED. Before the temperatures drop and the snow starts rising dabble in cropped leggings paired perfectly with vertigo-inducing heels. Keep your top half warm with chunky knits or a tailored blazer.

3.

PATTERNS & TEXTURE. We’re loving all the sequined, polka dot, leopard print leggings out on the market right now! If you’re a bit of a fashion daredevil, or want to branch out of your comfort zone, then we suggest this trend. We suggest a solid color on top so the focus can be all about your legs!

4.

UNDER DRESSES/SKIRTS. As Fall transitions into Winter leggings worn under skirts and dresses make a warmer alternative to stockings. Plus there are more options in terms of colors and fabrics. For an extra styling option (and insulation), add long socks or leg warmers over ankle boots/heels.

5.

BRIGHT COLORS. Brighten up those dull, deary days with show-stopping colored leggings. Our favorite color choices are purple, red, blue and green. Add a multi-colored knit top which includes the color of leggings, an infinity scarf and a pair of shades… now you’re ready for your close up ;)
