3 Oils My Fine Natural Hair Loves

oils for natural hair

I always thought that putting oil in fine or thin natural hair would weigh it down. For so long I was scared to play with oils in fear that they would make my hair limp or oily looking.

A year ago I decided to take a more organic approach to my natural hair. I came across the Aryuvedic hair method and fell in love! It was my first introduction into oils and my hair really responded well to it.

Ayurveda offers various homemade remedies for hair fallout and other hair and scalp related problems. There are a number of remedies that can help you get rid of these and other hair issues and grow healthy, shiny hair.

Here are just some of the amazing Aryuvedic oils that my fine hair loves:

Shikakai for Stronger, Thicker Hair

Shikakai is used to make hair roots stronger and healthier. Heat up Shikakai oil in coconut oil and massage the mixture into your scalp. This strengthens hair without weighing it down.

Castor Oil for Regrowth

Castor oil can be used on the scalp as a remedy for hair loss. It’s antibacterial and antifungal properties make it beneficial against folliculitis, dandruff and scalp infections and its ricinoleic acid content helps increase circulation to the scalp to improve hair growth.

The antioxidants in castor oil also support the keratin in hair and help it become stronger, smoother, and less frizzy.

Amla Oil for Hair Growth

Amla oil is known to be effective for hair loss treatment. It prevents premature graying of hair, promotes hair growth, and removes unwanted flakes of the scalp.

After having my third child, I suffered from postpartum hair fall out. I was really nervous because my hair is fine and thin already. I applied these oils and massaged my scalp daily. Nine months later my hair is longer, stronger, and thicker!
