So you finally did it, the Big Chop. After the pure excitement is over and the reality sets in, you are left with questions and lots of them. If you are anything like me, I was saying to myself, “what now? What do I use? What can I use?” I had no clue how to style my new TWA (Teeny Weeny Afro). For as long as I could remember I had a relaxer.
So of course this was a completely different experience for me. So what did I do? I instantly went on YouTube for inspiration; I clicked on countless videos looking for the perfect style for my new TWA. I ran to the store and bought everything the, YouTubers had suggested.
Through trial and error I found what worked and what styles didn’t I also became a bit of a product junkie along the way. (Side note, I found out very quickly my hair may never look like my favorite YouTuber, and that was ok, don’t get discouraged your hair is unique and is not like anyone else’s).
I have had to learn to love and enjoy the beauty of my hair. There will be some great days, some not so great days and the let’s put a hat/beanie on your hair days.
